Rachid El Houdaïgui is an Affiliate Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

He is a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South and professor of International Relations at Abdelmalek Essaadi University, Tangier’s Law Faculty, whose area of expertise centers around international relations,   geopolitics, defense and security, the Mediterranean region, North Africa and the Arab world. He is also professor at Royal College of Advanced Military Studies (Kenitra) and visiting professor at Cergy-Pontoise University (Paris), Cadix University (Spain) and at La Sagesse University (Beirut, Lebanon). He is the founder of the Moroccan-Spanish review “Peace and International Security” and in charge of the Observatory of Mediterranean Studies (Abdelmalek Essaadi University).

Since 2017, Pr. El Houdaïgui has been playing a pioneering role in co-piloting the African Peace and Security Annual Conference (APSACO), a flagship conference of the Policy Center, which gathers national and international experts from the military and political world as well as academia and civil society. He subsequently directs and co-edits the annual presentation reports that follows.

His research has been featured in numerous important institutions, such as the NATO Defense College Foundation (2021), the Academic journal (n°38) of the Atlantic Centre for Defense Capacity Building (Portugal, 2020), and the Brazilian REPATS Journal of Studies and Advanced Researches on Third Sector (2019). He is additionally a regular contributor to Policy Center for the New South research, producing numerous papers on defense, armed forces, security and conflicts. In 2022-2023, he is a member of the Committee of African experts in charge of revising the strategy of the African Union «post conflict reconstruction and development 2006».
