Our guest speaker for this event is Mehdi Ghouirgate, Associate Professor at FGSES

About the speaker

Mehdi Ghouirgate is an Associate Professor at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne. In addition to a PhD, he holds a Habilitation to direct research obtained at the École des  Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in 2019. 

Mehdi Ghouirgate is a specialist in the history of the Muslim West (Maghreb and al Andalus) during the medieval and modern periods. He is committed to revisiting this history based on a resolutely multidisciplinary approach that calls upon, among others, anthropology, economics, military history and demography. He is also the author of numerous books and articles published in international journals, 
mainly in French but also in English and Spanish. He has also been invited to give courses and conferences in universities in the United States, China and Spain.
