The Faculty of Governance, Economic and Social Sciences (FGSES) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is hiring an assistant Professor position in Microeconomics. We are especially interested in applicants having strong backgrounds in the following areas:


JEL Classification:

  • D1 -- Household Behavior and Family Economics
  • D2 -- Production and Organizations
  • D5 -- General Equilibrium and Disequilibrium
  • D82 -- Mechanism Design

Special consideration will be given to candidates with an advanced theoretical background.
Founded in 2016, UM6P is a well-funded, non-profit university created to provide world-class educational experiences and produce leading-edge research in the physical and social sciences. UM6P was established to serve Southern countries, with an emphasis on providing research relevant to Africa, and training students from the continent.


The Social Sciences, Economics and Humanities Cluster at UM6P is a teaching and research ecosystem that closely brings together three entities: the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences (FGSES), offering Bachelor’s, Master’s as well as Ph.D. programs, the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS), geared towards research and the Public Policy School (PPS), offering executive education programs for decision-makers in both public and private sectors.


All three entities have as a common goal. They contribute to the development of the African continent and endow public policies with solid knowledge as well as highly skilled professional profiles that critically address issues facing the continent and the globe.


Job duties and responsibilities involve teaching and research, typically with 60/40 or 50/50 splits. Ideally, faculty research will contribute to the UM6P goal of producing high quality research that could also be relevant to the African continent.


Applicants must have a Doctorate or PhD in economics or an equivalent discipline.


All applicants must provide: (i) a detailed curriculum vita; (ii) a separate, full list of publications; (iii) one example of research output; (iv) proof of degree; (v) and at least two letters of recommendation; (vi) evidence of effective post-secondary teaching experience.
