Contenu du cours / Course content
This course offers a space to learn and brainstorm the evolution of security studies, its different manifestations either at domestic, regional or international level. The course will combine two teaching approach, first, is o initiate students to theoretical frameworks of security issues, including realism, liberalism, and constructivism, etc; And second, is to work on thematic issues, with a focus on some specific areas such as terrorism, food security, Iranian nuclear issue, and Yemenite or Libyan issue, etc.

- General Introduction on Security and its different areas
- Theoretical bases of security studies: Realism, Liberalism and Social Constructivism
- International security and WWII blueprint post cold war and today emerging challenges
- UN, International Law and Nation state: reducing the conflict of interest and coping with international security
- Case Studies: Terrorism, Food security, Case Studies, War and humanitarian crisis, Security, Insecurity and socio-cultural factors
- Globalization and non conventional threats
Objectifs du cours / Course objectives
- To initiate the most important theoretical debates on security affairs, and help students to manipulates these theories for general use in their own learning process as future political scientists;
- To empower students’ analytical skills to address security issues, as if they are in charge of crisis management. And we will rely on the part to case-studies and students’ presentations in the class
