Al-mouksit Akim is an Assistant Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

Before joining UM6P, he worked for the World Bank within the Social Protection & Job Department, where he got involved in many projects providing technical assistance to Governments of Developing countries. He is also a research associate at DIAL-IRD, where he collaborates on projects in line with the distributive effect of fiscal policies in Africa. Moreover, he has initiated several research projects funded by organizations like the Partnership for Economic Policy research network and UNU-WIDER.

His works are regularly presented at international conferences, such as the CSAE Oxford conference 2022, the 5th World Bank Job for Development conference 2021, and UNU- WIDER conference 2021. His research has also featured in high-ranked Journals in the field, including World Development, Review of Development Economics, and Revue d’Économie du Développement.

Pr. Akim holds a PhD in Development Economics and graduated in 2018 from PSL Research University – Paris Dauphine University in France. Before enrolling in a PhD program, he graduated from the National School of Economics and Statistics in Senegal (ENSAE-Senegal), where he obtained his diploma of Economist Statistician Engineer.

With his strong background in Economics and Statistics, he is very enthusiastic about addressing Development Economics issues. His research interests are migration, structural change, financial inclusion, the distributive effect of fiscal policy, and social protection using applied micro-econometric and micro-simulation tools.
